Wisdom Through Wood offers courses in traditional and green wood working. We gather materials from the forest surrounding the workshop and create beautiful objects using only hand tools. Our participant numbers are kept small, usually only four or five people, so that everyone gets the attention they need to enjoy a supportive learning experience. Courses range from one day to nine days depending on the complexity of the project and no prior wood working experience is necessary. The workshop is nestled into the forest on the southern side of Kunanyi/Mt. Wellington and is surrounded by tall trees, ferns and the sounds of running water from a nearby creek. We make practical objects like spoons, mallets, rolling pins, stools and chairs.
